1.7.6-jumbo-12, including Erik's build of it (which adds extra patches),
definitely supports md5_gen in general, but it might not support
md5_gen(23) specifically - at least not in all of the components of the
Universal Binary (which is why the "arch -i386 ..." suggestion).
