Hello again, I think I found another bug in john. I downloaded the john-220.127.116.11 source and its jumbo patch. I patch and compile john and john runs. When I run it against my test hashes.txt file I get multiple copies of output. For example # john hashes.txt Loaded 6 password hashes with no different salts (LM DES [32/32 BS]) BB (b) A (a) BB (b) BB (b) A (a) BB (b) BB (b) A (a) BB (b) BB (b) A (a) A (a) TESTTES (Administrator:1) TESTTES (Administrator:1) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) A (a) BB (b) CDC (c) DEDE (d) Please keep in mind I have only 5 hashes in the file. If I do: # john -f:NT hashes.txt Loaded 5 password hashes with no different salts (NT MD4 [32/32]) bb (b) a (a) bb (b) a (a) bb (b) a (a) a (a) a (a) TestTest (Administrator) a (a) bb (b) cdc (c) dede (d) guesses: 13 time: 0:00:00:03 (3) c/s: 247608 trying: dodi - ducp This is in addition the earlier bug if you try to use john to generate a wordlist.
