I tried to reproduce that on the following systems:

slackware 32bit	OpenSSL 0.9.8n 24 Mar 2010
gentoo 32bit	OpenSSL 1.0.0d 8 Feb 2011
ubuntu 64bit	OpenSSL 1.0.1c 10 May 2012

with no luck.
Any of you guys have access to 32bit machine with an older OpenSSL?
