Subject: JtR: GPU for slow hashes

Hi,

I am a 3rd year undergraduate student pursuing B. Tech in Electronics and
Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Durgapur,
India and I want to apply for GSoC 2012 project idea "JtR: GPU for slow
hashes ".

I have keen interest in the field of *parallel computing, gpu computing*.
I have good programming skills in* C*/C++ and I am comfortable with working
on both *Windows and Linux* environments.I have also used *OpenCL, OpenMP
and MPI* to provide multicore CPU and GPU acceleration in some my pet
projects. Some of my self-undertook projects in the above mentioned fields
can be found at my personal website:*https://sites.google*.*
com/site/sayantan1024/home*<https://sites.google.com/site/sayantan1024/home>under
the tab "
*Mathematical Tools*".

To be honest I have no experience in open source development and
cryptography but since I have good mathematical background I can manage to
learn the basics of cryptography during the month of March-April.I am
planning to learn the more advanced topics during the program itself.

Therefore ,based on my capabilities is it appropriate to apply for the
above project.Please reply.

Regards,
