Please see this page on OpenVZ wiki: http://wiki.openvz.org/Differences_between_venet_and_veth With venet you may not sniff other containers' traffic (only your own) because venet: a) hasn't got PROMISC mode b) transfers only current CT's traffic, according to IP addresses and routes.
