Looks like for some reason "lilo" still has not been run. Perhaps try the
following:
boot from CD
get the # prompt
mount your /dev/hda1 under /mnt
chroot /mnt /bin/sh
if you have specified /boot partition, mount it now
/sbin/lilo -v
