Oh.  The clash with rule rejects is a non-issue - just prefix the line
with ':' (not your suggested 'M', which actually costs at runtime).
It's similar to '[' being both a rule and a preprocessor command.

However, the clash of '+' with Single mode word concatenation is
unfortunate.  It'd be nasty to introduce any magic processing of '+'.
