Openwall GNU/*/Linux (or Owl for short)
is a small security-enhanced Linux distribution for servers,
appliances, and virtual appliances.
Owl is
freely downloadable from our FTP mirrors,
but you also have the option to purchase it on a CD,
with delivery worldwide. Currently shipping is Openwall GNU/*/Linux 3.0 for 32-bit x86 ("i686") and x86-64 (your choice, or you may order both). The 32-bit version is usable on both 32-bit and 64-bit machines (but it runs 32-bit code only). The 64-bit version is usable on 64-bit capable machines only (and it runs 64-bit code, but may also run 32-bit OpenVZ containers if desired). Servers and most other computers produced since 2006 are 64-bit capable, so either version will run on them. Obsolete servers and some other computers may be 32-bit only, requiring the 32-bit version. CDs include a live system, installable packages, the installer program, as well as full source code and the build environment - everything! We've been offering official Owl CDs for 9 years (since mid-2002 till mid-2011), but we no longer do. It is much quicker to download an ISO image or much cheaper to purchase an unofficial CD from one of the companies listed below.
Openwall is not affiliated with any of the companies above and our project does not receive any money from these CD sales, so you're encouraged to donate to us separately.
