Advanced SQL Password Recovery by ElcomSoft
Win32, shareware, 30 day free trial, $129 (purchase)

This program will instantly change or reset lost or forgotten user and administrator passwords protecting MS SQL Server databases. The program supports Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Express 2000/2005/2008.

You do not have to install Advanced SQL Password Recovery on the same computer with MS SQL Server - instead, you may copy over the master.mdf file.

John the Ripper by Openwall Project
Unix / Win32 / DOS (DPMI) / BeOS / OpenVMS, free (GPL v2)

John the Ripper is primarily a Unix password cracker, but with the jumbo patch it also supports MSSQL 2000 and 2005 hashes. Thus, it may be used to crack weak MSSQL passwords given the hashes, as well as to audit the security of your MSSQL passwords. Please note that John the Ripper is a command-line (console) application; there's no GUI.

Please refer to the Unix password crackers page of this website for more information on John the Ripper.
