John the Ripper
by Openwall Project
Unix / Win32 / DOS (DPMI) / BeOS / OpenVMS,
free
(GPL v2)
John the Ripper is primarily a Unix password cracker,
but with the
jumbo patch
it also supports MSSQL 2000 and 2005 hashes.
Thus, it may be used to crack weak MSSQL passwords given the hashes,
as well as to audit the security of your MSSQL passwords.
Please note that John the Ripper is a command-line (console) application;
there's no GUI.
Please refer to the Unix password crackers
page of this website for more information on John the Ripper.
