No, I only did the xorg patches and any other once. In case the xorg patches are in the email
of the other thread, and they are enough to solve the xorg problem.

No, I don't think is needed. Only if you are using one of the packages I changed and you really want
something different, or if you wanna just check it is correct. But is there a lot of patches, and I know
these patches aren't appropriate to be applied by a user so I would 
suggest you to wait it get applied to 
the repository.
