IIRC after i fixed ticket2919, i searched for similar issues in
the codebase and that was what i found.

IIRC it probably was the result of code review which was done due to
Ticket 2906

Rewriting code that is poorly written but fully understood is good.
Rewriting code that one doesnt understand is a sign that one is less smart
then the original author, trying to rewrite it will not make it better.
