OK this seems to be user error of some sort on my part. I removed the
second video card, reinstalled the ati drivers and it works now with
clinfo and other tools working without segmentation faults. My only
guess at the moment is that I may have a hardware problem with the
5850 which was causing the issues.

One of my problems in debugging stuff is that the developer.amd.com is
under reconstruction this month and so various downloads I have gotten
may be old ones since the links directly to the icd-registration.tgz
and the AMD-APP-SDK didn't work and what I found via google may be old
or beta (I found AMD-APP-SDK-v2.6-lnx64.tgz but I don't know what its
date is). If I need newer versions and an icd-registration program..
could someone point where I could get them?

I have started a run to see how it works. X seems to become very non
responsive when I do this which I figure is a good sign :).

./john --session=B --wordlist=wordlist00 --pot=john1.pot
--format=md5crypt-opencl hash-md5crypt
OpenCL platform 0: AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing, 2 device(s).
Using device 0: Barts
Loaded 90630 password hashes with 90630 different salts (md5crypt
[OpenCL (inefficient, development use mostly)])

and then it starts spitting things out at a much faster rate than on
the 4 processors.
