I am still new to the field of Steganography. I will read in more detail about the work done already regarding this and then maybe this can be extended to Stegdetect hidden content in mp3 files as well.

Yes, and on a large scale - but for JPEG files, not MP3s.

There's stegdetect by Niels Provos:

It even includes wordlist rules code from an older version of JtR,
re-licensed under a BSD license with my permission.
