Wow, I never thought about cracking tripcodes before, but that sounds
like a really neat idea. I'm pretty sure JtR's DES hashing algorithm
could be modified to apply a different salt per guess. I also would
expect for it to provide a significant speed-up over OpenSSL's
functions.

Right now I can't offer anything besides moral support, but I would be
very interested in any future progress you make on this problem.
