Subject: Johns future - Question about OpenCL-interest and khc

I would just genericaly ask if there is any interest to may add OpenCL
implemented algorithms to john.

OpenCL provides a stable and generic framework to offload tasks to the
CPU and in the second half of 2009 AMD and nVidia plan to release
stablle drivers supporting OpenCL.

Unfortunaly Xorg does not provide any ability to use OpenCL yet (maybe
the will implement it some day) but except this a MD5 implemented in
OpenCL might be still a benefit.

I plan to dig into that topic a lil bit deeper but in case somebody is
interested we might could combine forces. But I can not ensure to have
time but I'd provide infrastructure and more if people are interested.

OpenCL might even be interesting for salted algorithms.
John itself would need some additional modifications still I think
(threading).

Regards,
Rembrandt
