Subject: Problems applying mscash patch

Hi,

Trying to be able to check mscashed hashes, installed the patch
http://www.cr0.net:8040/misc/john-1.6.37-bigpatch-11.diff.gz as per one
of the articles I was reading
(http://www.cr0.net:8040/misc/cachedump.html) in an attempt to learn how
to do this. Applied the patch using the command

gunzip filename | patch -p0

appeared to patch fine, made john using generic and then went to run
directory. When I attempted to run using

./john -format:mscash file

I was getting the error
fopen: ./etc/john/john.ini No such file or directory

Started from scratch and grabbed the file
http://www.openwall.com/john/contrib/john-1.6.37-mscash-5.diff.gz

same process and then attempted to run again

This time I get the error
fopen: ./all.chr: No such file or directory

Can anyone shed some light on my problem and maybe point me in the
direction of a good howto for idiots guide so I can get this working.

Cheers

Daryl
