Well, I guess they do, since the way at least RPM handles this does not
in any way depend on the actual build from source being done.  I'm not
familiar with building .deb's and I haven't seen how you do it, though.
So my question above applies to the .deb's only - for the .rpm's I know
the answer.

Anyhow, not building from source during package build feels wrong to me.
