Why that question?  We simply need to provide clear instructions on what
packages to install on popular Linux distros to get these things to
compile.  Dhiru?

That said, last time I checked Cygwin-built programs were mostly
non-working on Wine.  Some trivial things worked, but most did not.
I do find it weird that Cygwin is a lot more Wine-unfriendly than many
proprietary libraries are.  Apparently, developers of both Cygwin and
Wine found little reason to work on making these two compatible,
although I hope this will be changing.  It'd be convenient for me to be
able to build John/Cygwin releases (intended for Windows) on Wine.
