Subject: RE: "make generic" broken in 1.7.8-jumbo-6-RC2

I have never done builds on make generic, so that was not tested.  Looks
like very easy things to fix.  Likely only a header needing to be included,
or something.  I am only going to address this from your RC3, since that
should be the golden version at the current time.
