Same for me.  I tested with -enc=utf8 and things worked.  I did not  test
without that.

I will test a little more, and get a 0001- patch out.  I am hopeful that
setting the data using a different method will allow the init code which HAS
to be run, even if run multiple times, to run properly, without the side
effect of the length always growing by 3x.
